VZ. 52 Semi-automatic pistol

The vz. 52 pistol is a semi-automatic pistol designed in the early 1950s by brothers Jan and Jaroslav Kratochvil for the Czechoslovak Army, where it replaced a post-war mix of pistols of various provenance. It was intended for personal protection or to attack an opponent at a distance of up to 50 metres. Production was carried out in the Strakonice factory of Česká Zbrojovka until March 1955. Data on the number of units produced vary. According to the VHÚ, 206 284 pieces of the 7.62 mm pistol vz. 52 were produced. According to Jan Skramoušský, curator of the VHÚ, 216,384 pistols were produced.
